Welcome to the magical Strasbourg Christmas Capital
Every winter, Strasbourg transforms itself into a veritable showcase of light and enchantment. The heart of the city beats to the rhythm of Christmas, and the streets and squares plunge you into an enchanting universe where lights, decorations and scents create an unforgettable experience.

In a completely pedestrianized city center, the Christmas markets are best explored on foot. They are all just a short walk from one another.
Enter the Grande-Île through one of the entrances located at each bridge and let yourself be swept away by the incomparable magic of Strasbourg, the Christmas Capital.
Stroll, admire and marvel
The cobblestone streets, iconic squares, half-timbered facades, and spectacular, dazzling lights create a unique atmosphere. Look up: every neighborhood tells a story, and every scene is a work of art!
To help you fully enjoy your visit with peace of mind, the walkways are wide, beautifully decorated, and well-lit. Two information points, located at Place Kléber and the train station, are available to answer all your questions. And to help you get around, the “mobile elves” team, available on Wednesdays, Fridays, and weekends, will guide you from one market to the next. And to quickly find restrooms, the Ici Toilettes app is your best friend.
Visit the 8 Christmas markets
The 8 markets are spread throughout the historic center, in iconic streets and squares that are easily accessible and close to one another. Each market has its own character and atmosphere: crafts, gourmet treats, charitable initiatives, local products… A thousand treasures await you, and we remind you that the best way to discover them is on foot, with the holiday lights guiding you on your stroll.
The Christmas markets are open from November 26 at 2:00 PM until December 24 at 6:00 PM.
The market stalls are open daily from 11:30 AM to 9:00 PM.
Use the Christmas market map to easily navigate the city.
If needed, mobility aids (walkers or wheelchairs) are available for loan at the information chalet on Place Kléber.
Stroll, shop and treat yourself
From one market to the next, you’re sure to find something you love: Christmas tree decorations, garlands, handmade candles, Alsatian ceramics, local crafts, wooden toys… treats to give as gifts or to treat yourself.
The shopkeepers and artisans share their passion and introduce you to all the regional craftsmanship.
Savour, enjoy and breathe in Christmas
At the Christmas Market and the OFF Market, you’ll find countless ways to indulge during your food breaks! Vendors are committed to offering dishes for every taste and dietary preference (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and more) in an eco-friendly way, without forgetting the must-try Alsatian specialties.
The aromas of cinnamon, honey, and spices will guide you to the food chalets where you can enjoy bredle, gingerbread, sauerkraut, flambéed tarts and baguettes, spaetzle, or pretzels. And to accompany these delights, savor mulled wine with citrus and spice notes, or hot fruit juice for the kids.
Sort, respect and participate
Food courts are set up so you can relax, chat, and savor Alsatian specialties. And since in Strasbourg, magic goes hand in hand with respect for the environment, recycling stations and reusable, eco-friendly cups allow everyone to enjoy a festive Christmas that’s more sustainable and responsible.
Recycling stations are set up in the main squares: Place du Château, Place Kléber, Place Broglie, and Place Saint Thomas, where recycling ambassadors will assist you in properly sorting your waste.
And because a responsible Christmas is something we experience together, the vendors are leading by example: their waste is sorted, collected, and converted into biogas. The City also provides them with appropriate infrastructure for wastewater recovery and treatment.
So, for a truly zero-waste treat, bring your own container and enjoy every last crumb—whether you’re there or at home!
