Sustainable and responsible Christmas

Shine without waste

Every winter, Strasbourg reaffirms its status as the Christmas Capital while demonstrating its commitment to an environmentally friendly event. As the first city in the world to obtain ISO 20121 certification for its Christmas market, Strasbourg continues its efforts to combine magic, tradition, and environmental responsibility.

The City is committed to reducing its ecological footprint while preserving the festive spirit for which it is renowned. Decorations are reused, and the materials chosen are recycled or recyclable. This exemplary approach reflects a strong commitment: to offer a sustainable Christmas, where light and conviviality go hand in hand with responsible resource management.

The public is invited to experience the magic of Christmas in a new way through a program of events and activities centered on sustainable development: meetings with local artisans, eco-friendly creative workshops, and seasonal culinary discoveries.

In Strasbourg, the magic of Christmas now takes on a new dimension: that of a collective commitment to a more respectful and inclusive future.
