Presentation

L’exposition « l’art du miroir à Strasbourg au XVIIIe siècle » explore une production typiquement et intimement strasbourgeoise diffusée à grande échelle en Alsace et dans ses régions limitrophes. Le catalogue retrace l’histoire des liens entre les marchands miroitiers, les sculpteurs, les doreurs, les peintres, les manufactures de glaces et la clientèle. Si le sujet n’a jamais vraiment été abordé, alors pourquoi en retrouve-t-on autant dans les châteaux, les musées, les collections privées et sur le marché de l’art ? Miroir, mon beau miroir, dis-nous la vérité ! D’autant plus que la glace du miroir strasbourgeois pourrait provenir de la manufacture de Lohr am Main qui aurait inspiré le célèbre conte des frères Grimm…

Exposition temporaire du 17 septembre au 17 octobre 2026 dans les locaux du magasin Antiquités Bastian.

Les œuvres exposées sont également proposées à la vente.
